Water-Repellency and Hydrophilicity

One of the keywords that cannot be left out in an automotive market is 'water-repellency'.

When searching for a wiper, many people are interested in water-repellency.

They search for things like 'water-repellent coated wipers', 'silicone wipers', and 'car water-repellent wipers'.

What is water-repellency? It is when something is incompatible with water.

Two things aren't able to mix and end up repelling each other.

And what is hydrophilicity? The opposite of water-repellency. It absorbs and is friendly with the water.

Your windshield is in this state after the oil film is completely removed.

Out of all the wipers on the market, we recommend wipers that can continuously apply a water-repellent coat during operation.

That way you don’t need to find another separate water-repellent coating product for your windshield. Silicone wipers are your best choice.

But most silicone wipers in the market aren't able to give you that crisp, clean wipe. So what's the problem? The shape. Almost all wipers in the market are made with an inverted triangular shape, all except— Kimblade. Kimblade utilizes a unique rectangular shape that captures all the advantageous characteristics of silicone while also cleaning efficiently.

Let’s say you encounter heavy rain while driving, on a hydrophilic windshield, you will see water droplets spread and stay on top of the glass. The droplets obstruct the view and can lead to a dangerous situation. Including that, contaminants that get stuck on your glass during driving are more likely to stay. The speed at which the oil film accumulates will be much faster than a windshield with a water-repellent coat.

On a semi-permanent water-repellent coat, the falling water droplets don’t wet the windshield but gather to form a round shape and then slide off the glass. That’s why, even on a heavy rainy day, you can comfortably secure your view without moving your wipers that often.

For first-time users of water-repellent wipers, many say that they feel like there’s fog stuck on the windshield. Don’t worry, it is a natural phenomenon that appears momentarily due to the existence of fine water droplets on the windshield. The problem disappears over time.

Follow these steps to enjoy Kimblade’s water-repellent coating and wipers to the fullest. Through these steps, we’ll teach you how to install a water-repellent coat with only Kimblade wipers.

1) First, remove the oil film to clean off all the foreign contaminants from the windshield. If you already have another company’s water-repellent coat, water-repellent film, glass film coating, or wax installed, remove it. Most glass water-repellent coating products and constructions may not be compatible with silicone wipers.

2) After removing the oil film, dry the glass.

3) When the windshield is dry, operate the wiper for 3-5 minutes (dry-wiping). During this process, you might experience some noise. This is due to the friction between the cleaned glass surface and the wiper. When the process is completed, the noise will stop.

A glass surface with a water-repellent coat allows water droplets to slide off the windshield on rainy days without wetting the glass. Even during heavy rain, you can experience the excellent performance of the Kimblade wiper even more.

Even with minimal use, you can secure your vision in the rain. And since you don’t have to be worried about peeling off the water-repellent coat, you can use your wipers with ease.

Experience comfortable driving in rainy weather with only a rectangular silicone Kimblade wiper. You don’t need anything else.
